On 1st May it was time for cycling again. Ilmsens took part in the project "Stadtradeln".
The aim of the project “Stadtradeln” ("city cycling") is to cycle as many routes as possible in 21 days. We probably don't need to explain the obvious advantages of cycling here. However, the aim of the campaign is also to improve the cycling infrastructure. All cyclists are encouraged to make suggestions for improvement of cycle routes and to report deficiencies on the citizen participation platform RADar!
In 2020, 1.077 municipalities participated in Stadtradeln. A total of 126.372 km were cycled in Ilmenau as part of the project. Fun-fact: It’s about 2.8 laps around the world.
As one of 35 teams that cycled in Ilmenau, Ilmsens participated for the second time and started with a team of 4 people. In total we cycled 127 km. That is definitely expandable but in times of home office and contact closures not surprising. Next year we will participate again and improve our result - that's what we promise.
Until then, we will of course continue to cycle as much as we can. That is our contribution to climate protection.
