A ground penetrating radar or a georadar is a minimal invasive geophysical locating method that makes hidden things in the ground visible using electromagnetic waves. Ilmsens has specialised in ultra-wideband measurements from 0 to 6 GHz. The more broadband is measured, the higher the resolution or localisation accuracy. Technical Information

  • Use of the UWB pseudo-noise signal: High stability compared to the classical broadband measurement methods (e.g. pulse measurements)

Penetration depth depends on the used and allowed frequency range as well as the transmission power. The propagation speed is faster (e.g. dry soil) or slower (e.g. moist sand) depending on the permittivity ε (dielectric conductivity) of the material of the soil. Ilmsens different algorithms and test set-ups prevent the material property of the soil from affecting the results. In order to obtain accurate measurement results, we have to determine the permittivity ε precisely.
